Weekly Newsletter Nov. 21 '25 - The Best Computer for Interior Designers

Hi there, designer đź‘‹

I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving!
Time does fly when you’re having a great time, as they say 🙂
Next week is Black Friday and if you’re planning to upgrade your computer, this newsletter will come in very handy!

I hear this question all the time from interior designers -
“What’s the best computer for design work?”

It’s a tricky decision because there are so many options, and yes - even the best computers crash sometimes (we’ve all been there!). But you can absolutely make a smart choice that supports your creative workflow and saves you a lot of frustration down the line.

If you’re planning to shop during the Black Friday sales, here’s what to look for 👇

CPU (Processor)
Go for Intel i7/i9 or AMD Ryzen 7/9 - your multitasking powerhouses.

GPU (Graphics Card)
Choose NVIDIA GeForce GTX or RTX with at least 6–8GB VRAM for buttery-smooth renderings.

RAM (Memory)
32GB is ideal for SketchUp, Enscape, and AutoCAD.
64GB if you’re running multiple programs or rendering animations.

Storage
SSD (Solid State Drive) is a must - 1TB if possible.
Keep an external drive for backups (you’ll thank yourself later!).

My personal setup: I use 64GB RAM on my laptop and 128GB on my desktop - both MSI.
It’s the perfect balance between speed, multitasking, and reliability.

Choosing your next computer doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.
You don’t need the most expensive setup - just one powerful enough to support your creativity and workflow. Read more on my blog linked below to go into deeper discussion to understand the tech part!

Also, keep an eye on next week's newsletter! I'll make sure to send some links your way - if I do come across hot deals.

Black Friday: 30% Off All Courses 🎉
I’m celebrating with 30% off all Interior Design Den courses next week.
If you’ve been wanting to level up SketchUp, Enscape, or AutoCAD - now’s the time.

  • Show up like a pro with renders and animations that elevate your portfolio (and rates)

  • Work smarter, not longer with proven workflows that streamline every phase

  • Deliver client-ready designs with total confidence - from concept to final render, without second-guessing your tech setup

(No coupon code needed if your checkout auto-applies)

Weekly Newsletter May 08 '26 - 5 Mistakes I Made Early In My Design Career
Hi there, designer 👋 It’s been a very full season behind the scenes lately. (May is basically a second December lol) Besides running the studio, I recently picked up another renovation project - a smaller home renovation focused on a kitchen, bathroom, and two bedrooms. Honestly, it’s been the perfect balance alongside our much larger home project that will likely take over a year to complete. ...
Weekly Newsletter Apr. 24 '26 - Confidence Comes With Experience — But It Starts With Process
Hi there, designer đź‘‹ This week, I was helping a designer review one of her proposals. She shared that she was struggling to get client approvals. Decisions were dragging out.Questions kept coming in.Everything felt slower than it should. And to make matters worse, the project had already gone well beyond the fee she originally charged...She felt frustrated. Because from her side, she was workin...
Weekly Newsletter Apr. 17 '26 - The Worst Advice I Received Early In My Design Career
Hi there, designer 👋 This month in my studio I’ve been deep in the procurement phase on my 6k sq. ft. home renovation - sourcing furniture, lighting, and coordinating orders. And it reminded me of something I wish someone had explained clearly to me much earlier in my career. I once received advice from someone positioning themselves as a “coach” in the design industry. They told me: “You shoul...
